Students: About 33 000 students on graduate and post-graduate levels are members in Uppsala Student Union, which makes us the largest Student Union in Sweden.
Associations and student councils: Exist or should exist in every department. The associations and the councils constitute the base of the students' influence over the university's development and play a very important role monitoring the educations locally on every department. The equivalents for the PhD students are the PhD students associations and councils.

Student Union parties: As a member of a party, you work with student-related issues and can run as candidate for the Student Union elections. All members of Uppsala Student Union have the right to form a party.

Student Union Council (FUM): The highest decision-making body of the Union. Consists of 41 members from various student union parties. The task of FUM is to stipulate the guidelines for and monitor the activities of the Student Union. The Student Union Council meets approximately once a month, and the meetings, which are announced in Ergo and on our homepage, are open for all member of the Union.

Student Liaison Officers: Students that are appointed by FUM and paid to assume a particular responsibility for educational issues on the various faculties. Hence, every faculty has at least one student who works part-time or full-time with the coordination and strengthening of student influence on that faculty with all its departments.

Board: Consists of 13 students from various Student Union parties who have been appointed by FUM to be in charge of the Student Union's activities and manage its assets. The work of the Board is based on the plan of action, budget and guidelines that have been stipulated by the Student Union Council (FUM). The Board includes the Student Union's Executive Committee - the chairperson and the two vice chairpersons - that work full-time at the Student Union Building.

Elected representatives: Also working full-time or part-time in the Student Union Building are a number of student representatives that have been appointed apolitically to work with various student-related issues such as international students, equality, information to students, ESMeralda Diversity Office, etc. The student ombudsman is also an elected representative (förtroendevald).
