Nation-wide student mobilisation

Since 2002, Uppsala Student Union is a member of SFS, the Swedish National Union of Students. SFS is an association of
student unions in Sweden. In SFS all sorts of student unions are represented, from small student unions with approximately 30 student members to big ones consisting of up to 33 000 students, such as Uppsala Student Union.

The purpose of SFS is to represent the interests of its members and, on a national level, to monitor and build awareness of questions considering education, science and student welfare. SFS works towards the Swedish Parliament, the Government, the political parties, the National Agency for Higher Education, the National Board of Student Aid and the National Admissions Office to Higher Education. A great deal of Uppsala Student Union's lobbying work for students rights on a national level is channelled through SFS.

On the SFS web site you can find out more about SFS and read all the reports and other information material that they produce (in Swedish). SFS also has a well developed news service. SFS monitor the media for student-related issues every day, both nationally and internationally, and recent news are presented continuously on their homepage. By checking out www.sfs.se, you can quickly and easily keep yourself up to date about what is happening in student politics and education policy developments.
