Uppsala University should be a place free from insults and discrimination.
Discrimination means that a person is not treated the same as other persons under the same or similar circumstanses.
The Discrimination Act regulates this area and states that everyone should be treated the same irrespective of sex, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, gender identity or disability.
The law includes both direct and indirect discrimination, harassment, sexual harrasment and instructions to carry out harassments. For example in the case of students with functional limitations individualized solutions may be needed to attain
equal treatment.
An intention to discriminate is not necessary for a discrimination to occur. You can turn to the Unions’ Equity Officer if you have questions concerning discrimination or harassments. If you have experienced harassments you can turn to the Equity Officer or the Student Ombudsman at the Union or to a person at your department that you trust.
