As a student you have a right to a good physical and psychosocial work environment.
The work environment act includes students so students as a group are equal to other unversity staff.
The head of department has the biggest responsibility for the work environment.

Physical work environment

To have a good physical work environment you need for example a functioning ventilation, lab security and ergonomically designed work places. If you find any insufficiencies in your work environment it is important that you inform the safety representative at the department.

Psychosocial work environment

In the guidelines for the students working conditions it is stated that the relation between students, teachers and other university staff should be formed by respect. You have a right to a work environment that is free from insults and discrimination. It is also specified in the guidelines that the work environment should be organized so that it creates premises for joy, possibilities for development and safety for employees as well as students. In the document “Students Working Conditions” you can read more about work environment and rights. If you have any questions or opinions about your physical or psychosocial work environment you can turn to the safety representative at your department or the vice president with social responsibility. You can also contact the company nurse at Student Health with responsibility for the work environment.
