Social and Ethnical Diversity

During the last few years the Uppsala Student Union’s work concerning social
and ethnical diversity has grown. The social and ethnical uneven
recruitment among students and employees at Uppsala University today is
a problem. An extended diversity at the university is positive in many
different ways.

It increases the possibilities for the individual student to get access to
higher educations and the academic level at the Uppsala University
becomes higher as a result of the broader perspective that a higher
diversity gives. At the same time it is positive for the society to get
a wider selection of qualified labour and decreased social clefts. This
is one reason why Uppsala Student Union concentrates on social and
ethnical diversity.
 

Uppsala Student Union has together with the university and the municipality, a
diversity bureau that runs different projects to broaden recruitment.
