Quality of Education

One of the most important tasks for Uppsala Student Union is to work for high-quality education. We think the best way to monitor education quality is to listen to what the students think about their education. Course evaluations constitute a good tool in this work, and we think it is vital that course evaluations are taken into careful consideration when university courses and programmes are changed.

Other quality factors are the frequency of teacher-led education and the possibility for students to complete their education. An education should primarily be evaluated according to how well-educated it leaves the students. Every involuntary abandonment is therefore a failure for the struggle for better quality. In our view, all students should have the opportunity, not only to be admitted to higher education, but also to feel welcome at the university and to have the possibility to complete one's studies. Hence, seeking information about why students abandon their studies prematurely is one of the questions we work with in our struggle for higher quality. That information can help the University in planning for how to make students stay on and finish their education.
