The Uppsala Student Union Doctoral Board works to:
- Build awareness around and solve problems concerning PhD
student supervision, e.g. by making the faculties introduce minimum
requirements for supervision or by compensating PhD students that have
been given insufficient supervision, e.g. with prolongation - Improve and broaden carrier opportunities for new PhDs, especially outside the academic world
- Make
sure that all PhD students are formally admitted to the doctoral
studies and can do their research under secure working conditions - Secure employment for all PhD students so that they can be included in the national social security safety net
- Promote equality in the workplace for PhD students
- Prevent
any offence, discrimination or harassment against doctoral students
based on their gender, disability, sexuality, sexual identity,
ethnicity or social background - Introduce reintroductory months on all faculties for PhD students coming back from maternity/paternity leave
