International Officer

Internationally, Uppsala Student Union  looks after, debates and critically reviews international education questions around the world and their effect on Uppsala University's and Student Union's members. It is of significance that the Union actively strives to improve exchange possibilities so that students are able to study and get to know about the whole world, not just the Western world. The Student Union has an International Officer that works fulltime with these questions.

A worrying trend is developing, where fewer and fewer Swedish students go abroad. Why is that so? Many universities and even European committee's are working on the problem and so is the International Officer. If you have insights or suggestions you can contact the Union's International Officer.

The International Officer works to assist Swedish students that are going abroad, with information, advice and the work that needs to be done when the students return (like grade transfer and the like). Another goal is to increase integration between Swedish and international students. If you have suggestions or ideas about this just contact us.

International students
Another important task is to support the international students that come to Uppsala University and be close if problems arise, whether social or educational. The International Officer also works to accomodate a meeting point between Swedish and international students.

The international perspective
One of the International Officer's goals is for the Union to be permeated by an international perspective. An important aspect of that is access to information in English, even information that is direct to non-swedish students - eg. how the swedish healthcare system works. This information can be important for you - you do not know which buss to take to IKEA? I do, just ask me!
