Phd students at Uppsala University are members in and  are represented by Uppsala Student Unions' Doctoral Board. 

The Union has a Doctoral Board that consists of one representative from each facultys' Phd student Council. The Doctoral Board safeguards research education questions localy and nationally and is independent. Uppsala Student Union even has a Doctoral Ombudsman, working part time, to take care of  Phd students that are experiencing problems related to their education.
