Our organisation

Uppsala Student Union was founded 1849 by the student nations in Uppsala in order to tackle questions that concerned all students. Founding the Union meant the beginning of many years of work to improve the conditions for all students, both at Uppsala University and in society in general.

Uppsala Student Union has the biggest mandate in SFS, The Swedish National Union of Students, which embodies the largest collective student voice in the country. The fact that Uppsala Student Union has such a large influence in SFS, means that we have a great opportunity to influence national education policies.

Uppsala Student Union is a student interest organisation and therefore works to influence the university, the community, and the state so that the interests of Uppsala students are taken care of. This entails that we work with guestions that are directly relevant to education, but also with questions that for example have to do with housing and economy. Our prime responsibility is to make sure that student interests are always protected.
