Uppsala Student Union's vice president responsible for educationpolicy has education monitoring as his field. Monitoring the qualityof the education at Uppsala University is one of the most importanttasks of Uppsala Student Union.
Education monitoring means monitoring the quality and generaldevelopments of the education. The Student Union works bothpreventively, monitoring quality developments of various sorts, andpro-actively, trying to influence and remedy problematic situationsthat have direct impact on education quality and on the studysituation for the students.
The responsibilities of the vice president for education policyare, among other things, to monitor education policy developments ona national level, and on the local level at Uppsala University. Thevice president for education policy is also a member of a number ofgroups and bodies within the university, such as the QualityCommittee. This committee is an advisory group for the University's Unit for Quality and Evaluation, and handles long-term quality issuesat the University.
On faculty level, Uppsala Student Union has Student LiaisonOfficers, who work with problems and issues that students may have inrelation to their education. The Student Liaison Officers monitorwhat happens at their faculties and report to the vice president foreducation policy and the rest of the Student Union. Hence, theStudent Union gets an overview of what is happening at faculty leveland can try to influence the University to get problems sorted outand changes implemented. All students have a right to be representedin all preparatory and decision-making bodies at the university.Today, education monitoring is being conducted at all levels withinthe University organisation.
