Som ordförande för Samhällsvetenskapliga sektionen har du en central roll i att forma och driva sektionens verksamhet. Du har det huvudsakliga ansvaret för sektionens arbete, vilket innebär att leda och samordna ett verkställande utskott på 7-11 personer, samt att balansera behov från Uppsala studentkår, sektionen och dess kårföreningar för att hitta gemensamma lösningar. Du representerar också sektionen i flera olika forum, både som studentrepresentant för samhällsvetarstudenter i olika universitetsorgan och genom att delta på sittningar, träffar och möten för sektionens räkning.

Du förutsätts vara ansvarstagande och ha gott omdöme, med kapacitet för att hålla många bollar i luften samtidigt. Du har lätt för att samarbeta och skapa kontakt med andra, men är inte rädd för att stå på dig om så behövs.

Du behöver förbereda dig på att vara inkopplad i viktiga och aktuella studentfrågor och diskutera dessa med berörda studentgrupper, parter från kåren, kårföreningar eller universitetet. Även om mycket ansvar ligger på ordförandens axlar, arbetar man alltid tillsammans med resten i sektionens verkställande utskott.

Uppdraget omfattar cirka 10–20 timmars arbete i veckan, i mån av arvoderingsgrad.

In English

‍As Chair of the Social Sciences Section, you will play a central role in shaping and running the Section's activities. You have the main responsibility for the section's work, which means leading and coordinating an executive committee of 7-11 people, as well as balancing the needs of Uppsala Student Union, the section and its studentunion associations to find common solutions. You also represent the section in several different forums, both as a student representative for the social science students in various university bodies, but also by attending sittings, meetings and events on behalf of the section.

You are assumed to be responsible, with good judgment and the capacity to multitask when needed. Furthermore, you are proficient at creating and maintaining connections with others, but you do not shy away from standing your ground when the situation demands it.

You also need to be prepared to be involved in important and topical student issues and discuss these with relevant student groups, stakeholders from the union, union associations or the university. Although a lot of responsibility falls on the shoulders of the Chair, you will always work together with the rest of the Section's ExecutiveCommittee.

What does the job entail in concrete terms?
